The shocking incident happened yesterday shortly after noon.
A social worker visited the house around 11, where the XNUMX-year-old lives with his family.
The 44-year-old father of the child was also at home at that time. The mother was absent. When the clerk searched for the 11-year-old, the father said the child was in his room. After entering the room, the officer found the child unconscious on the sofa, which was dirty, while there was a lot of clutter in the room.
The officer realized that something was wrong and called an ambulance that picked up and transported the child to the Limassol General Hospital.
Signs of cocaine and marijuana were found in the urine and stool samples of the child.
Fortunately, the child is now in good health. He was discharged from the hospital and transferred to his relatives, while the Police proceeded to arrest the 44-year-old father late last night.
Initially, the 44-year-old stated that he had nothing to say, while in his testimony he claimed that he was a drug user but he never gave drugs to his child. The suspect was brought before the Limassol District Court, which approved the request of the Police for detention for four days. He is considered a suspect in a case of ill-treatment of a minor under 16, a negligent act that causes bodily harm and psychological violence.
The main scenarios under investigation are two. If it was the father who gave the drugs to the child or if the child used it on his own, possibly following the example of the father.
This very serious case is being closely monitored by welfare office officials.
According to information, the father has occupied the authorities several times for cases of domestic violence, but also drug use.
