We have dropped the positive rates in the community, however, the active cases are still at high levels for Cyprus, said Dr. Petros Karagiannis, speaking on SIGMA's show "Mesimeri kai Kati".
He should not "lower the shield", he said characteristically, as with the opening of the economy there is always a possibility of revival and we want to avoid setbacks, he said.
He said he was concerned that we were still in the winter months and that returning workers indoors, if not tested, posed a risk of the virus spreading.
"What we want to avoid in these early stages of relaxation is rallies. If we do not, we will have a resurgence," he said.
"Let's wait," I will say it in Cypriot from pillar, pillar and comfort, "he said characteristically.
Regarding the threats against him, Mr. Karagiannis stated that if some people think that I have such influence in the Government, this is not the case.
Asked to comment if he is considering retiring, Mr. Karagiannis clarified, "it is a function I have been doing for 45 years, I will not give it up because some people do not like what I say".
