Initially, commenting on the number of cases in March, he noted that "we did well, given that in Europe and Latin America the cases had skyrocketed, the deaths have increased and we know that in Europe this is due to the British executive, which we have in Cyprus and explains why we had this upsurge ".
He added that "since the beginning of the February relaxations, we have spent two months and we have seen an increase in cases from the 120 we had then to 350 on average. It worried me that for two consecutive days we had more than 400 cases in a period, during which we proceed to further relaxations. Where we were looking for a drop, we see the numbers remain stable at high levels. "This shows that we have to be very careful, since we have no room for anything to go wrong."
Asked if schools are a source of coronavirus transmission, he explained that "it has been shown lately that this is happening and may be due to the British executive, which is more easily transmitted to children. The virus can be transmitted at home and the virus can go to school or from school to home through infection by other children. "Therefore, it is not easy to determine the source of the infection, but on the other hand, if the children are tested and wear their mask, this could be avoided."
Asked if there is a difference of opinion of the Scientific Group with the Ministry of Health or with others in the Council of Ministers, he answered that negatively, noting that "I can not say that such a thing happens, we give some suggestions and beyond that it is up to the political leadership to adopt or reject them. "At least since the last series of proposals, almost most of them have been adopted."
