Complaints about the poor living conditions of the elderly in nursing homes are before the Cyprus Observatory for the Third Age.
Speaking on state radio, one of the directors of the observatory, Giannoula Antoniou-Euclidou, said that people who worked in nursing homes reported the tragic conditions, but they refuse to make official complaints and testimonies before the competent authorities.
Mrs. Euclidou also noted that the law does not allow the inspection of nursing homes for the dignified living of the elderly and called on the State to set up a competent committee, which will carry out surprise inspections of the accommodations.
