The Ministry of Research has decided not to digitize the Safe Pass (Cypriot digital immunity certificate), but to directly implement the Green Pass (European digital immunity certificate), which is being prepared by the European Union and is expected to be implemented in June. and Innovation.

The Green Pass is ready for the second fortnight of June

Speaking to KYPE, the Deputy Minister of Research and Innovation, Kyriakos Kokkinos, stated that based on current data, the Green Pass will be ready for implementation in the 2nd fortnight of June, to note that until then Cyprus will continue with the Safe Pass measure, which will continue to exist in its current form, ie forms.

It is noted that citizens should submit, until the implementation of the Green Pass, to restaurants, department stores, gyms, temples, hotels, theaters, weddings, baptisms and funerals, a vaccination certificate provided that three weeks have passed since the first dose. or release sms, for those who became ill from covid-19 the last six months or a document with an original stamp from a negative PCR or rapid test, valid for 72 hours.

Green Pass in the form of application

Answering a relevant question, Mr. Kokkinos said that there is a timetable from the European Union for the implementation of the Green Pass, on which all Member States are working, to note that he hopes that this timetable will be kept.

Asked why the Safe Pass will not be finally digitized, Mr. Kokkinos said that because the time from the digitization of the Safe Pass of Cyprus to the implementation of the EU Green Pass would be short, it was decided to wait for the second one, to avoid inconvenience. of the world.

"In order not to take the Safe Pass in another form and after a short time to tell the world about the Green Pass, we decided to wait for the Green Pass. "The Safe Pass will remain in its current form," he said.

Asked to explain the operation of the Green Pass, he said that it will work digitally, in the form of an application, to note that it can be printed in a form for the convenience of those who are not technologically familiar.

It is noted that the Green Pass will be cross-border, with the aim of facilitating safe and free movement in all European countries.

The Safe Pass is an intermediate national version of the simple immunity certificate, which until the adoption of the Green Pass, aims at the safe movement of citizens.
