The Party for the Animals of Cyprus once again condemns this case where a dog attacked a small child and once again we simply point the finger at the guardian.
While the police investigations continue we will simply say what neither the government likes nor those who deal with the welfare and protection of animals and we mean the various government departments.
The situation is uncontrollable and everyone does what they want because they simply do not feel the presence of the authorities who bear great responsibility for what is happening around us. It is unthinkable that while we have been sounding the alarm for a few years now, no one is moving and no one is taking immediate responsibility.
Legislations exist, but they will not be implemented by themselves if citizens and government do not work together to fight every illegality. For this reason, we call on both the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Agriculture to immediately call a meeting of the relevant departments to coordinate and find immediate solutions to combat the phenomenon of indecency and the oligarchy of some who carelessly blow the whistle.
We hope that the child recovers quickly and that the guardian of the dog is immediately arrested and gives his own testimony about how and what happened and a dog attacked the child.
Certainly the dog cannot be victimized, but the guardian bears full responsibility and justice should be served immediately and responsibilities should be given where and where they are due.
