The Ministry of Health announces that today, April 9, 2021:
- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded today COVID-19, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 268.
- 205 patients COVID-19 50 of whom are in serious condition.
- A total of 63,207 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).
- 601 (positivity rate: 0,95%) new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases at 50,589.
The current results are detailed.
A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:
No patient deaths were recorded today with COVID-19. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 remains 268, of which:
176 men (66%), and
- 92 women (34%).
The average age of those who die from the disease is 79 years.
B. Patients:
In total, 205 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 50 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 50 patients who are critical, 29 are intubated, two are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 19 to an intensive care unit.

C. Positive incidents Covid-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 63,207 diagnoses made today, 4,495 were made by molecular method (PCR) and 58,712 by antigen rapid test, 601 cases of the disease were identified. COVID-19, which emerged as follows:
- 148 cases from 1,011 samples taken through the process of tracking contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 5 cases of 1,024 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 113 cases from 2,078 samples taken through private initiative.
- 12 cases from 346 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 19 cases from 539 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 304 cases from 58,173 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were performed without detecting a case:
- 36 samples taken under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
