The Police, around 12.15 yesterday, received information about a traffic collision, which concerned a vehicle, which was immobilized in an earthen ditch on the road Atsa - Kalopanagioti.

According to a police announcement, members of the Evrychos Police Station went to the spot where they located the said vehicle as well as two persons who stated that they were the driver and the co-driver of the specific car.

As it appeared from the examinations, the vehicle seems to have deviated from its course, to have collided with a pole of the EAC and then on a small pine tree which it cut down and immobilized.

The two occupants of the vehicle were not injured.

The driver of the vehicle, according to the Police, underwent an alcohol test with an indication of 114μg instead of 9 μg which is the upper limit by law.

The two men were taken to the Evrychos Police Station where the 26-year-old driver underwent a final alcohol test with an indication of 109 μg instead of 9 μg.

As for the co-driver, it was found that he was a 28-year-old man who, as it turned out, had been illegally on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus for the last 6 years.

The two men were arrested and detained while the Evrychos Police Station in cooperation with the YAM continues the investigations.
