The establishment of a working group to further elaborate ETEK's proposals for reducing the price of electricity was decided on Monday in a meeting between the Minister of Energy, representatives of CERA, ETEK and the Cyprus Transmission System Operator.
The meeting, ETEK states in a statement, was attended by the President of ETEK Constantinos Constantis, the member of the General Council Dinos Nikolaidis, the expert Dr. Venizelos Efthymiou and the Chamber's Senior Scientific Officer, Christos Maxoulis.
The meeting was a result of the recent proposals submitted by ETEK which concern immediate measures to create conditions to reduce the price of electricity and review aspects of the competitive electricity market in a way to shield the average household and small and medium-sized business from the large increase in energy prices , while ensuring that the burdens and benefits of the energy transition will be fairly shared and that conditions will not be created for the profiteering of only a few.
It was decided, like the group that was formed, to further process and crystallize the recommendations of ETEK as soon as possible, so that they can be submitted as findings and findings to CERA and the Ministry of Energy to help them make relevant decisions within their responsibilities.
