According to the information under investigation, the 57-year-old Greek Cypriot had gone to a friendly house of the 40-year-old in Zakaki, as his estranged wife was living there, whom he attacked with caustic acid.
The 57-year-old left the scene, while the 40-year-old asked for help from neighbors, who called an ambulance, which transported her to the Limassol General Hospital. Due to the seriousness of her condition, she was transported intubated and in a state of repression to the Intensive Burn Treatment Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital.
Police located the 57-year-old, who was taken to the offices of TAE Limassol for questioning, where he confessed to the crime, while a case of attempted murder is being investigated against him.
An arrest warrant will be issued within the day for the 57-year-old, while tomorrow he is expected to be brought before the Court for a detention order.
However, as it turns out, the 57-year-old's crime seems to have been premeditated, since he had the caustic acid with him in a bottle.
