A dog attacked a ten-year-old girl yesterday afternoon, injuring her in various parts of her body.

According to the Police, the incident happened at 18:00 yesterday afternoon when a ten-year-old girl who was walking on a street near her house, a dog was thrown over the fence of the house of its owner and attacked the child.

The mother of the girl who lives nearby hurried to the spot and transported her little girl to the Accident and Emergency Department of the General Hospital of Paphos.

According to the doctor on duty and the medical examinations, the little girl was injured by a bite in the right thigh and was detained for treatment and follow-up at the pediatric department of the General Hospital of Paphos.

Then at 22:40 last night, the little girl's mother reported the incident to the Paphos Central Police Station.

A 45-year-old dog owner was issued a warrant for a search of her home and her home was searched by members of the Paphos Police Department and a Paphos Municipality official.

The dog was then taken to be examined by veterinary services.

The dog's owner was questioned and charged in writing to be summoned later. As it turned out, he did not have a dog license from a competent authority.

A case is being heard against her for failing to take appropriate measures to protect the dog and for the dog to be held without permission by the competent authority.

The case is being investigated by the Paphos Minor Offenses Department.
