At 1 billion euros the "unpaid bill" for Pyla and occupied areas ..

revma 1 EAC, Occupied, CURRENT

The amount of € 272.546.000 amounts to the cost of uncollected electricity consumption in Pyla and the occupied areas for the period 1964-2017 without including the interest that would correspond to the amount owed each year. In such a case, the total amount of debt to the EAC would exceed € 1 billion. Approximately € 1 million per year including interest due on amounts due.

The above data refer to a confidential letter sent to Parliament on 14/2/2019 by the Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry George Lakkotrypis in response to a relevant question addressed to him through the parliamentary route by George Perdikis on 9/10/2015, ie before three and put years.

The letter of Mr. Lakkotrypis also states that the cost of uncollected consumption of electricity from the occupied areas is included in the total amount presented in the annual budget of the EAC and specifically in the articles of production, transmission and distribution of electricity The cost of unsustainable electricity consumption is passed on to the backs of Greek Cypriot consumers. It is also mentioned in the letter Lakkotrypi, that the occupation regime paid in full the electricity provided by the EAC in various cases from 2016 onwards, where the EAC network can be connected at any time to the pseudo-state high voltage network. .

In addition, the letter Lakkotrypi lists the amount of uncollected consumption and its value from 1964 to 2017. Indicatively, we mention that in the year 2000 the value of uncollected consumption rose to € 458.000, in 2001 € 465.00, the 2002 € 419.000, in 2003 € 519.000, in 2004 € 562.000, in 2005 € 626.000, in 2006 € 808.000, in 2007 € 866.000, 2008 € 1.354.000, in 2009 € 1.032.000, in 2010 € 1.074.000, the 2011 € 1.158.000, in 2012 € 1.395.000, in 2013 € 1.285.000, in 2014 € 1.001.000, in 2015 € 240.000, in 2016 € 310.000 and in 2017 € 465.000.
As we were duly told, the uncollected consumption of electricity to the occupied areas continues only in the areas of Pyla and Pergaio, while in the area of Louroutzina the consumption is negligible from 2012 onwards.

The Gate

In the mixed village of Pyla, located within the dead zone, Greek Cypriots regularly pay their bills to the EAC, while Turkish Cypriots refuse to do so. The same happens with the Water Supply accounts. In fact, Turkish Cypriots of Pyla rent their premises to foreign nationals or Greek Cypriots, or residents of Pyla, for commercial purposes, such as for entertainment centers, casinos, supermarkets, bakeries, etc. thus increasing the cost of uncollected consumption. The EAC management and administration have recently sent several letters to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to find a solution regarding the interruption of the free electricity supply. In fact, the EAC insisted on its position for invoicing all the residents of the Pyla area who are supplied by its network and not only of the Greek Cypriots but also of the Turkish Cypriots.

Pergamon

The supply of electricity in areas of the occupied village of Pergamon is recorded by a meter that is placed on a stake in the area. The Meter records the electricity supplied to the occupied and Turkish Cypriot areas within the British Bases. To resolve the village's electricity supply, the EAC has previously suggested to the Foreign Ministry two alternatives:
1) To cut off the supply of electricity to the village as it can be supplied from the occupied village of Makrasika with the construction of a voltage line and a length of 6,6 km from the pseudo-state. The construction time of the power line is estimated by the EAC at two months.
2) To arrange, so that the village becomes a customer of the EAC, as already applied with the occupied village of Kokkina. In case of non-payment, EAC will act as with all its other customers. That is, it will cut off the electricity supply until the bill is paid.

In the vacuum the steps of the EAC

"The EAC is constantly taking steps and actions to resolve the issue of uncollected consumption in the Turkish-occupied areas. "However, the issue is political and a relevant decision needs to be taken by the Government," a competent source told "F". Pointing out, at the same time, the need for the involvement of the Ministry of Energy, to which the EAC belongs, to resolve the issue. Of course, that the ministry favors such a thing.
