Ministry of Health: Announced over 2 thousand cases

248 patients COVID-19 of which 92 are in serious condition. 73,39% of patients do not have a history of vaccination.

The Ministry of Health announces that today, January 19 2022:

- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded COVID-19, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 689.

- 248 patients COVID-19 of which 92 are in serious condition. 73,39% of patients do not have a history of vaccination.

- 17 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized in intubated condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

- A total of 95,650 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).

- 2,226 (positivity rate: 2,33%) new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases in 233,082.

The current results are detailed.

A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:

No patient deaths were recorded with COVID-19. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 remains 689, of which:

434 men (63%), and

- 255 women (37%).

The average age of those who die from the disease is 76,1 years.

B. Patients:

In total, 248 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 92 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 92 patients in serious condition, 35 are intubated, 5 are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 52 to an intensive care unit.

C. Positive incidents Covid-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 95,650 diagnoses made, 6,732 were made by molecular method (PCR) and 88,918 by the method of antigen rapid test, 2226 cases of the disease were identified. COVID-19, which emerged as follows:

  • 61 cases from 1,007 samples taken through the process of tracking contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 35 cases of 1,376 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 329 cases from 3,895 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 24 cases from 318 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 985 cases from 50,222 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 792 cases from 38,696 samples examined by the method of antigen rapid test through the program of the Ministry of Health.

In addition, the following tests were performed, without detecting a case:

  • 0 cases from 135 samples received under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 0 cases from 1 sample taken as part of tests on closed structures.
