President Anastasiadis described the first official visit of the President of the Republic to Saudi Arabia as historic, emphasizing that it is a milestone in the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Awarding the Honorary Consul of Cyprus Mohamed Al Fadl in Riyadh with the Medal of Excellence, President Anastasiadis stressed that in recent years there have been leaps in strengthening the cooperation between Cyprus and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by establishing a diplomatic mission in Riyadh. President Anastasiadis expressed the desire of Cyprus to contribute to the success of the economic transformation program of Saudi Arabia 'Vision 2030' and with the contribution of many Cypriot companies that have been successfully operating in the country for years.
He warmly thanked the Honorary Consul of Cyprus for resolving issues concerning the Cypriot community in Saudi Arabia, as well as the promotion of tourism and business relations. The government and people of Cyprus, stressed President Anastasiadis, are deeply grateful for his invaluable contribution. At 12 noon the official reception of the President at the Palace was held by King Salman and at this time the king is having a meal. Consultations of delegations of the two countries and signing of three agreements will follow.
They concern the avoidance of double taxation and cooperation in aviation. A memorandum of understanding will also be signed between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries, for foreign policy consultation.
In the afternoon, President Anastasiadis will have a meeting with the heir to the throne, Prince Salman.
