Elsewhere in his speech, the presidential candidate reiterated his firm position on maintaining the public character of the semi-governmental organizations.

"We have given and won battles in order to prevent the privatization of the semi-governmental organizations, which are an important asset of the state, ie of all Cypriot citizens, which can be utilized with proper administration and management, contributing to economic development and social prosperity." said Mr. Papadopoulos.

In this regard, he added, "we also propose the appointment of non-executive directors who will not be appointed by the government but by an independent body."
