The Ministry of Defense announces that today it was designed by the KSED and an international Search-Rescue Exercise (E-D) was held under the name "CYPEGYP - 02/17".

According to an announcement of the GTP, the exercise took place in the sea area south of Cyprus, with the participation of the Air Force of the Republic of Cyprus and the training ship SHALATIN of the Egyptian Navy on the occasion of an educational voyage of the Egyptian School of Naval Trials in Cyprus.

The exercise is part of the development of cooperation to deal with Search-Rescue incidents or emergencies that may arise during activities within the EEZs of the 2 countries.

The coordination and operational control of the aeronautical means that took part in the exercise, was the Larnaca Search and Rescue Coordination Center (KSED).

The scenario of the exercise concerned a "Naval Accident on the High Seas". Therefore, the Larnaca KSED implemented the National Search-Rescue Plan "NEARCHOS" to deal with the incident with an injured airlift operator (MEDEVAC) from the Egyptian ship with an AW-139 Helicopter of the Air Operations Unit , in which a properly trained nurse of the Larnaca Civil Defense was riding.
