Low-income retirees are entitled to additional financial support from the state, ie they will be entitled to the allowance, the so-called "small check". They will be able to apply until the end of 2019.

The Plenary Session of the Parliament, during an extraordinary session, unanimously voted in favor of a bill, which provides the possibility to submit an application for the granting of a low pensioner allowance. Previously, the body voted in favor of the return of the law that was recently passed, the Parliament, following a proposal of a law of AKEL.

Beneficiaries will be:
• Single who receive less than 10,324 euros per year, or 790 euros per month.
• And couples who receive less than 15,486 euros per year, or 1191 euros per month.
Other benefits received by retirees will be taken into account and deducted, such as benefits from the KOAP, as well as the interest they receive from deposits they have. There will be no property criteria.
That is, a low-income pensioner receives 400 euros a month. He will be entitled to receive another 390 euros, if he has no other income.
An amendment proposed by the Democratic Party was incorporated in the bill, according to which, the deadline for submitting an application for a pensioner expires instead of December 2018, after one year, in December 2019.
