"Through the multi-level foreign policy pursued by the government, it has been possible for the first time since the establishment of the Republic of Cyprus to develop very close relations with Saudi Arabia," said President Anastasiadis.

During his visit to the premises of the Cypriot company Ioannou and Paraskevaidis, which operates in Riyadh, President Anastasiadis stressed that his visit is the first official visit by the President of the Republic of Cyprus to this country.
Referring to the history of Nicosia-Riyadh diplomatic relations, President Anastasiadis said that until 1964 Saudi Arabia had an accredited Ambassador to Cyprus, but after the events of 1964 there was a severance of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
He noted that in 2015 there was a reconnection, since as a result of the policies pursued by the government, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia serving in Athens was accredited in Cyprus.
I feel really happy he said, because the goals we set are being implemented one after the other.
In the coming days, he added, there may be some even more pleasing announcements.
The President of the Republic described his meeting with the King of Saudi Arabia as extremely productive.
The meeting, he said, was creative for the benefit of the interests of the Cypriot people and our Saudi friends.
