The Minister of Finance, Haris Georgiadis, described the official visit of President Anastasiadis to Russia next week as very important.
Speaking on Tuesday, Mr. Georgiadis said that the Government is looking forward to this visit, because it will confirm the very good political, economic and trade relations between the two countries.
The visit, he noted, is a sample of the continuous effort of the Government in the context of both foreign policy and the maintenance and deepening of Cyprus' relations with important states.
At the same time, he added, it is part of an effort to constantly promote Cyprus as an attractive, stable and investment destination, especially in a large economy such as Russia.
During President Anastasiadis' visit to Russia and his talks with Vladimir Putin, five bilateral agreements and memoranda will be signed.
According to information from the Cyprus News Agency, the agreements that have been finalized between the governments of Cyprus and Russia concern Merchant Shipping, International Road Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
A Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Cyprus and the Office of the Attorney General of the Russian Federation, and a Joint Declaration on Cooperation in the Field of Modernization of Economies were also finalized.
President Anastasiadis leaves for Moscow tomorrow night.
The meeting with President Putin will take place on Tuesday in the Kremlin and will discuss developments in the Cyprus issue, Cyprus-Russia bilateral relations, Russia-European Union relations and regional and international issues.
