Based on design by its big sister Cayenne, but also based on its cousin Audi Q5, the new Macan is being feverishly prepared by Porsche!

The new Macan, the famous new Porsche mid-size SUV that we have been waiting for for at least three years, is entering the final stage of its presentation. And now, we are looking forward to October and the Frankfurt Motor Show for the debut of the new Porsche creation, which will be the smallest SUV in the history of the brand.

At the moment, few official Macan figures and photos have been released, but the spies are revealing who the long-awaited new Porsche is.

"Baby" Cayenne

It is a given that, by design, the new Macan will have a lot in common with the larger Porsche Cayenne, thus creating a small SUV family within the brand.

As the "spies" reveal, the front of the Macan will be a miniature of the Cayenne, with the same round headlights on the hood and the highly dynamic bumper with three large intakes to accentuate the sporty character of the new Porsche.

From there, based on the official Macan sketch released by the brand, the new Macan will bring lines that will be more reminiscent of a coupe.

So we expect a lower ceiling, with smaller glass surfaces, but also third side pillars that will fall directly on the rear lights.

These are expected to be smaller in size than other Porsche models are used to, thus giving a special note to the presence of the new Macan.

It will be based on the next Audi Q5

While, in design, the new Porsche Macan will be based on the Cayenne, in the mechanical and technical part, the floor, suspension and all-wheel drive of the new Porsche will come from the corresponding dimensions of the Audi Q5.

And specifically, from the second generation of the model that will be presented in 2014. Of course, the settings in the suspension, but also a number of other parameters such as e.g. the brakes will differ between the two cars to emphasize the Macan dynamism.

Also, in terms of engines, Porsche's new SUV is expected to receive Audi's V6 petrol and diesel engines, so that the necessary dynamism can be offered here as well.

However, in 2014, the range is expected to be enriched with a 2,0-liter engine, while it is not ruled out, as in Q5, that there will be a version with drive only on the front wheels that will target exclusively the economy.
