If the Greek Cypriot side is ready then the Turkish Cypriot side can proceed with the opening of the Deryneia roadblock without the constructions being completed, said the "Prime Minister" Tufan Erhiurman, pointing out the reports in the Greek Cypriot press for reactions and statements. of the business world and other people who do not want the opening of this roadblock.

According to reports from the occupied territories, Erhiurman's statements were made after yesterday's weekly meeting with the Turkish leader, Mustafa Akinci, with whom - as he said - he discussed the issue of opening the Deryneia and Apliki roadblocks, the issue of the Maronites "where "there has been no development for a long time" and announced that next week Mr. Akinci will meet with the Presidents of all 4 parties of the "government" to discuss issues related to the Cyprus issue.

They have completed the tender for the "police" and the other tenders will be completed in mid-July, said Erhiurman, saying that if the Greek Cypriot side is ready, they can proceed with the opening without having completed all the construction works in crossing point. There is an agreement between the "presidency" and the "government" that this work must be completed quickly, he added.

They are determined, he said, to proceed with the completion of the drilling and he hopes that "in the south they have the same determination and want as we do in the middle of the summer and by the end of it, to complete this work. It is clear the position of the Turkish Cypriot side on this issue, to open (the roadblock) as soon as possible ". Work on the Applique, he said, is progressing rapidly.

At the meeting of the four Presidents with the Turkish leader next week, said Tufan Erhiurman, they will also discuss the issue of the Maronites, saying that there is a relevant report "and now political decisions must be made" and expressing the position that little by little we must in this matter to take some initiatives.

Asked if there was anything to be said about the recent visit of Kudret Ozersay to the closed Varosha area, Mr Erhiurman said no. "In this matter (of Varosia) there is so far no decision for change or political differentiation." The "foreign minister" 's visit to the area was a "normal process", he said.
