The works on the river Liopetri start

After many postponements and delays, the grandiose project of regenerating the area of ​​the river Liopetri, is ready to receive "flesh and bones".

It was with great satisfaction that the local authorities, and the wider area, were informed that the project has been registered with a specific construction company, which is preparing within the year, to start the projects.

The project is considered one of the largest infrastructure projects in the fisheries sector of Cyprus. It is approved for co-financing by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund 2014-2020 with an estimated budget of 7 million euros.

In addition to the works in the fishing shelter, the surrounding area will be shaped, a fact that will contribute to the protection and promotion of the natural environment of the entire area of ​​the river Liopetri.

Purpose and Purpose of the project

Creation of an organized coastal front of 25 km in the area of ​​Famagusta

As Costas Kadis and Kyriakos Trisokkas also pointed out in their statements, with this project, which will last 30 months, the Liopetriou community is now inevitably placed on the tourist map of Cyprus in a dynamic way.

In addition, with the reconstruction of the Liopetri River, in the future the free Famagusta will have an organized coastal and tourist front with a wide range of services and activities, starting from the Liopetri River and extending west and north, to the beach of Agia Thekla. the Marina of Ayia Napa, the organized beaches of Ayia Napa, Cape Greco and Protaras. That is, a coastal front, ie about 25 kilometers long, perhaps the largest organized tourist coastal front of the island.
