A 34-year-old Bulgarian resident of Sotiras is being treated at the General Hospital of Famagusta with a fractured spine after a traffic accident yesterday in Liopetri.
Specifically, according to the Police, the 34-year-old was driving his car on G. Katsiari Street in Liopetri yesterday around 6:50 in the afternoon.
At some point on the road and under the circumstances being investigated, he lost control of his vehicle, as a result of which he crashed and came to a stop on a road sign.
The car was destroyed and the intervention of the Fire Service was needed to free the driver.
The driver was transported by ambulance to the Emergency Department of the Famagusta General Hospital where he was diagnosed with a spinal fracture and is being treated in the intensive care unit. His health condition is out of danger.
He underwent an alcohol test with zero indication. Preliminary tests show that the driver did not wear a seat belt.
Xylofagou Police Station is investigating the causes of the accident.
