The Famagusta District Court sentenced a 08-year-old woman to nine months in prison on Tuesday (08/57), who was found guilty of malicious poisoning, ie putting urine in the plastic water bottles of her colleagues for revenge.

According to "Politis", the decision of the court provoked the anger of the accused and her relatives who were in the courtroom, resulting in tension and calling for police assistance to protect the judge and the representative of the accusing authority, who received threats.

The 57-year-old was found guilty after a hearing in five total charges, of administering poison or attempting to administer poison in order to cause bodily harm to other persons. The offenses were committed in July and August 2015. The accused worked as a cleaner in a general hospital in the province.

According to the court decision, using a special tube, they took quantities of urine from the basins of the hospital toilets and then put the urine in the plastic water bottles of her colleagues. The water bottles were in a common area maintained by the cleaners. According to the court, the 57-year-old was acting in order to take revenge on her colleagues because she considered that they were not behaving in a good way.

According to the same publication, imposing the sentence, the district judge Anna Pantazi stressed the seriousness of the crimes in which the accused was found guilty, noting that there is no similar case in the Cypriot case law that has been tried in the past. The judge disgusted the act of the 57-year-old, which, as she said, put her health of her colleagues in serious danger.

Upon hearing the sentence, chaos prevailed in the court of Paralimni. The accused reacted and started cursing the judge and the representative of the accusing authority, Popi Pitsillou. The latter was forced to be locked in a courtroom, under the protection of police officers, in order to escape from the family of the accused. Aid was called and the spirits calmed down after a while. The judge and the public prosecutor fled with a police escort.
