Synthetic drug business in Ayia Napa

A case of possession of synthetic drugs, weighing about 6 kilos, against an Egyptian and two Turkish Cypriots, is being investigated by the Anti-Drug Service in Famagusta.

According to the Police, yesterday afternoon, members of YKAN Famagusta, after information, stopped and searched a rental car driven by a 39-year-old man from Egypt, with a 35-year-old Turkish Cypriot co-driver.

During the police investigation, a plastic container containing plant material, synthetic drugs known as BONSAI, weighing about three grams, a precision scale with traces of plant material and two bags of plant material with the inscription DAMIANA of total weight were found in the driver's door. 1600 gram and nylon bags.

The 35-year-old was also found in possession of a half-smoked handmade cigarette containing synthetic drugs and an open package with the inscription MAD HATTER. The 35-year-old's bag also contained a nylon package containing 12 packages with the inscription MAD HATTER, which contained synthetic drugs weighing three grams each.

Upon completion of the investigations of the men of YKAN, the 35-year-old stated that with them from Larnaca was also the 35-year-old roommate of the Turkish Cypriot, who was searched and located on a beach in Ayia Napa.

A search was later carried out on a rental car in Larnaca, rented by the second 35-year-old Turkish Cypriot, and a precision scale with traces of plant material was found.

A search was then carried out at the house where the two Turkish Cypriots live, where a green nylon bag was found in which there were nylon packages with plant material with the inscription DAMIANA, weighing a total of 4,200 grams.

Also in a travel bag of a Turkish Cypriot was found a box of matches in which there was a nylon bag with beige powder weighing 0,5 grams and a nylon bag with a blue tablet. All the findings were received by YKAN as evidence.

Also in the rental car driven by the 39-year-old Egyptian and in his house, a total of 42 packages of aromatic tobacco were located and received as evidence.

The three were arrested for spontaneous offenses and taken to the offices of YKAN Famagusta in Ayia Napa where interrogators admitted that they mixed the plant material found with synthetic drugs known BONSAI and sold them in Ayia Napa. The 39-year-old does not admit any involvement with drugs but admitted to possessing packages of aromatic tobacco.

The three men were arrested by the police with arrest warrants and were taken into custody.

The case is being investigated by YKAN Famagusta.
