The POED decided two all-day strikes, making the announcement for taking measures - deed, at the end of the school year.

The strike measures are taken as a sign of protest against the new regulations voted by the Parliament, talking about victimization of education.

Specifically, primary schools will remain closed in Nicosia, Larnaca and Famagusta on 8/6 in a full-day strike and in Limassol and Paphos will remain closed on 15/6, also an all-day strike.

According to the POED, those schools that have events, celebrations or excursions will have their strikes postponed to another date.

That is, those schools that have events, celebrations or excursions, can transfer the day that their school will strike from June 8 to June 15 and vice versa.

In any case, and due to the particularities of each school unit, a relevant information leaflet for each school is posted on the website of POED.

Teachers are reacting to any reform effort, according to Education Minister Costas Kadis. The list of teachers awaiting appointment will be permanently abolished in 2027.

Until then, the appointments will be made by 50% from the list and for the remaining 50% there will be examinations.
