BYRAS: NOTHING CAN BE IMPLEMENTED WITHOUT EFFECTIVE MUNICIPAL SERVICE
"NOTHING can be achieved without an effective, properly organized and with the Citizen in focus, Municipal Service, while nothing can be achieved if the" heart "of what we call Municipality, is not healthy and does not work properly." With this report, the new mayor of Larnaca gave his mark for the five years that have just begun.
Speaking to KYPE, he said that the goal is to serve the citizen based on the good of Larnaca. He said that "there is a lot to be done, making a new beginning, building a 'new city', literally and figuratively." He said that "we have before us open issues, such as the major development projects in the daily life and quality of life of our citizens. Our goal is with assertiveness, proper study and planning and continuous monitoring to put all the small and big issues on a solution trajectory ".
Aim for Surpluses
Regarding the finances of the Municipality, Mr. Vyras said that for the budget of the Municipality of Larnaca for 2017, there will be a marginal increase of 2,15% compared to 2016 in terms of total expenditures and a corresponding increase in revenues, taking into account some decisions taken by the Municipal Council, including the increase of revenues in rents, fees and parking fees in new parking lots ".
"This increase", he continued "is almost negligible and the goal is for the Municipality to create a surplus, ie a net surplus of 3,121 euros for 2016 and 3,608 euros for 2017".
Referring to the social problems faced by Larnaca, the Mayor said that "the Local Government is always in direct contact with the problems of the citizens.
We recently created the Social Support Center, which is the reception structure of our citizens with the main goal of promoting mental health and improving their quality of life at individual, group and community level.
In addition, in collaboration with the Community Mental Health Service of Larnaca and Free Famagusta, a Counseling Center will soon operate that will provide services on mental health, while at the same time we are in the process of developing new Social Structures for youth and the elderly.
