The BMW 2 Series is expected to be officially presented in September in Frankfurt, but its first spy photos leaked from autotriti.gr.In essence, the new BMW 2 Series is the two-door, coupe version of the 1 Series, so the common elements that are found are many, both in terms of design, especially in the mechanical parts and engines.
However, according to the exclusive-spy photos we secured, the new BMW 2 Series retains the premium character and the basic features of the Series 1 coupe, ie the compact dimensions and the three-door body, while neither the rear-wheel drive nor the powerful mechanical sets, which differentiated it from the simple versions of the Series 1.
The headlights, of course, may be more reminiscent of the Z4, especially in the open version of the Series 2, while the image of the interior will be almost the same as that of the second generation of the Series 1.
As for the platform on which the new 2 Series will be based, it is the familiar BMW rear-wheel drive platform, on which both generations of the 1 Series were based, while several future models of the Bavarian company are expected to be based.
BMW is doing the same with the 2 Series and the 1 Series, as it has done with the 4 Series compared to the 3 Series, aiming to expand its range and reach a new buying public. So, waiting for its official presentation, which will be placed next September at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
