The Turkish invasion of Cyprus is the subject of the next episode of the popular soap opera "Fighter" (Savasci) which is shown in a high-viewing zone on the Turkish channel FOX, for the 4th year.
The series propagates the greatness of the Turkish Armed Forces with plenty of lifestyle, love affairs, passions, envy but also many scenes of heroism and self-sacrifice.
In the trailer of the new episode that is already being shown, a select group of Turkish soldiers are carrying out attacks in Cyprus. The footage shows a flag of the pseudo-state, newspaper articles with references to Sampson as well as the well-known Turkish propaganda for December 1963.
In the past, the series has also dealt with Thrace and the late nationalist leader of the pro-Turkish minority, Ahmet Sadik. In that episode we saw Colonel Ibrahim Kopuz (played by the actor Murat Serezli) speaking at the Turkish World Congress, which is also attended by a representative of the "expatriates" of Thrace. He spoke of "Western Thrace", as the Turks call Greek Thrace, to Ahmet Sadik, who in 1995 was killed in a car accident outside Komotini. Note the striking resemblance of the protagonist Murat Serezli, with the Turkish Minister of Defense.
