"Children should not be traumatized by separating them from their parents," UN spokesman Stefan Duzaric said today, referring to US border policy that has led to the separation of nearly 2000 children from their parents.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres "has a position of principle that refugees and migrants must be treated with respect and dignity, in accordance with international law," his spokesman said in a press release.
"Family unity must be safeguarded," he said, referring to a rare UN criticism of Donald Trump's domestic policy.
