Savvas Papasavvas was re-elected Vice-President of the General Court of the European Union.

An announcement by the Court states that following the partial renewal of the term of office of certain members and the assumption of duties by three new members of the General Court of the European Union, Savvas Papasavvas was re-elected Vice-President of the General Court for the period from 16 September 2022 to 31 August 2025 .

Born in 1969 in Nicosia (Cyprus), Savvas S. Papasavvas studied at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece) where he received a law degree in 1991. He completed post-graduate studies at the Université de Paris II (France) and received, in 1992, an M.A. title (DEA) in public law. In 1995, after completing a doctoral course at the Université d'Aix-Marseille III (France), he was awarded a doctor of law. Registered with the Cyprus Bar Association, a member of the Nicosia Bar Association since 1993, S. Papasavvas continued his career as a lawyer until his appointment to the General Court in 2004.

He also taught at the University of Cyprus as a teaching assistant from 1997 to 2002, and was then elected a lecturer in constitutional law and taught in that capacity from 2002 to 2004. S. Papasavvas was appointed a judge at the General Court on 12 May 2004 and was elected president of a chamber for two consecutive terms, from September 15, 2010 to September 25, 2016. His colleagues elected him Vice-President of the General Court on September 27, 2019, and he has been performing these duties ever since.
