Julia Skripal, a 33-year-old Russian woman who and her father Sergei Skripal were exposed to the neurotoxic substance Novitsok on March 4 in Salisbury, is able to talk, eat and drink, according to new information.

On Thursday afternoon, the treating doctors announced that her health condition is showing "rapid improvement" and that, unlike her father, she is no longer in "critical", but in "serious condition".

Police believe they could find an unexpected key witness in Julia Skripal's face as investigations into the incident continue.

Police have said they believe the Skripals came into contact with the toxic substance at the entrance of their home. Experts estimate that someone or someone had smeared the door handle with the substance.
