An alarm was sounded at Tokyo's Haneda Airport on Tuesday night (local time) when a Japan Airlines plane burst into flames while landing on the runway.

Footage from broadcaster NHK showed flames coming out of the plane's windows and underneath it. The runway was also on fire.

NHK, citing authorities, said the plane collided with a Japanese coast guard aircraft after landing in Haneda. There were 367 passengers on board the plane, who according to the first information of the Japanese channel - still to be confirmed - caught up and got away.

It also said the plane, flight 516, had taken off from Hokkaido.
