Turkey expects a grain ship to leave a Ukrainian port every day as long as the agreement ensuring their safe passage is respected, a senior Turkish official said today after the first safe departure of such a ship yesterday from Odessa since it was launched the war.

The first ship, the Razoni, carrying 26.527 tons of maize to Lebanon, was crossing the Black Sea off the coast of Romania at 10:14 a.m. Greek time, having traveled about half the distance before reaching Turkish waters, according to data from Refinitiv Eikon.

"The plan is for a ship to depart ... every day," the senior Turkish official told Reuters, referring to Odessa and two other Ukrainian ports covered by the deal. "If nothing goes wrong, the exports will be through one ship per day for a while."

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, added that Razoni's departure was delayed by a day or two due to "technical problems" that have now been fixed.
