The president of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, who is awarding the prestigious Oscars, is at the center of an internal investigation after three allegations of sexual harassment against him, US media reported today.

The American television network CBS and the magazine Variety, citing sources familiar with the case, wrote that the Academy was informed of these three allegations against John Bailey on Wednesday and an investigation was soon launched.

John Bailey, a 75-year-old director of photography, has been chairing the organization since August 2017.
In a brief statement, the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said: "The Academy handles any complaint in the strictest confidence to protect all parties.
The Committee of Members examines all complaints against its members based on the code of conduct and after completing the investigation, informs its board of directors.
We will not comment further on this matter until the investigation is completed. "

At the annual Oscar nominee dinner in February, in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal that rocked Hollywood, Bailey assured that the Academy is being rebuilt with programs aimed at integrating and integrating greater awareness and responsibility to achieve gender, racial, ethnic and religious balance ”.
