The member of the Advisory Scientific Committee, dr. George Petrikkos, submitted his own assessments, just a few hours before the crucial meeting.
The professor through ANT1, stated that their suggestion concerns a double mask indoors, and as much as possible avoid unnecessary gatherings.
He justified it by saying that, "the holidays gave us this result. Do not make it worse, because this will result in an increase in hospitalizations. It is mathematically certain ", he commented characteristically.
He noted that during the meeting there will be an analysis of the locations of recent incidents, as well as the rapidly spreading transmission chains.
He described as important the fact that "Omicron" does not seem to cause significant morbidity, however the situation in the ICU is already aggravated.
"But those who are not vaccinated, the elderly and the vulnerable, are at risk if they become infected with Omicron, get sick and be hospitalized," he noted.
