Cyprus: Credit card transactions of Russians are increasing

The largest increase in Russian credit card transactions abroad this summer compared to last year will be seen in Tunisia, Georgia and Cyprus, according to the global Visa credit card payment system.

In these countries, Russians' spending on cards can increase by 25%. The increase in card usage costs in Europe will be 8%, while in North America and Asia at 12% and 11%, respectively.

Two-thirds of the amount Russians spent abroad on cards last year was in ten countries, seven of them European. Italy was the biggest winner among the EU countries, while first on the list are Cyprus and Turkey.

The system predicts that this summer Russian tourists traveling abroad will increase their card payments by 7% compared to last year.

In addition, the number of cards used abroad will increase by about 10%.

Holders of 2,3 million Visa cards are expected to use the same card about 11 times per trip.
