The Council of Ministers decided to submit a bill to the Parliament in order to amend article 18 of the Law on the Regulation of the Establishment and Operation of Hotels and Tourist Accommodations, the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, announced after the body's session.

The purpose of the bill, he explained, is to register an extension for hotel and tourism businesses until 31/12/2025 and conditionally until 31/12/2027 as follows: The filing of a copy of the application for the legalization of all building changes (additions and the responsible declaration of the project designer with which the unauthorized building installations or conversions will be coded.

It is noted that a large number of tourist and hotel units, as a result of the urban planning incentives of 2013, have proceeded in recent years in renovations or expansions, he added.

On the issue of restructuring, Mr. Koumis said that it is the exclusive responsibility of the President of the Republic. "It does not concern us Ministers. We have each been charged with a portfolio and personally I am dedicated to the portfolio that has been assigned to me and to report that the tourism of our country in 2023 has gone very well and more importantly that 2023 is now turning into a year of reference because we will have new revenue record," he concluded.
