New information sees the light of publicity for the case of rape of a 24-year-old in a hotel suite in Thessaloniki.
"I thank the people for their support, they are my support to return to my normal life", says the 24-year-old who reported her rape and states to ThessToday.gr through her lawyer determined to prove the guilt of those involved in the accused rape. "With the phone calls and the wishes of the people, I am slowly coming back. Thank you is a little bit ", she conveyed to her lawyer, Athanasios Ziogas, stating that the wave of support she receives every day is the driving force to continue the fight to reveal the culprits. The young woman's wish "that no other girl suffers what happened to me".
The complaint, the key and the prosecutorial investigation for a pimping circuit
What happened on New Year's Eve in the room of the luxury hotel is slowly coming to the girl's memory as, as she complains, the perpetrators threw a sleeping pill in her drink.
The 24-year-old went to the party with two of her friends at the urging of a man she considered her friend and trusted. This was a person she knew from her outings in well-known stores in Thessaloniki. She went to the party in her car. But because she had had two drinks and was not feeling well enough to drive - as her house is outside Thessaloniki - she agreed to let her friends go and stay the night in one of the rooms booked by three Athenian businessmen for the party.
When she woke up without her clothes, she realized what exactly happened, she contacted the lawyer and he advised her to report the incident to the police, as she did, reporting three persons.
One of the three was immediately arrested, while a search of his room in that hotel turned up the keys to the girl's room and a pill that enhances erectile function.
To the prosecutor where he appeared, he allegedly claimed that he met with the girl with her consent. After his apology, by a joint decision of the prosecutor and the investigator, he was released on restrictive terms.
However, the case is not closed as the investigator continues to take testimonies from people involved in the case. For this reason, according to SKAI, the head of the Prosecutor's Office of Thessaloniki, Panagiotis Panagiotopoulos, ordered a public prosecutor's investigation, following the allegations of a pimping circuit.
The ring operated in Thessaloniki, by people wanted by the authorities and aimed at locating young women, who were forced into prostitution and channeled to such parties.
