Two-day detention orders against two persons were issued on Sunday by the Pafos District Court to facilitate investigations for an investigated case of possession of burglary tools and illegal possession of property.

According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations Michalis Nikolaou, on Saturday night members of the Crime Prevention Unit went to an area in Paphos, following information that there was a suspicious person and a little later they located a specific vehicle, from which a person got out. She was allegedly carrying a handbag, which she dropped on the ground and then got into the car.

The vehicle was stopped and it was found that the driver was 57 years old and the passenger was 29 years old, permanent residents of Cyprus.

From an investigation carried out in the vehicle, various items were found in the driver's seat, which are burglary tools and a knife of a prohibited type. The two persons were arrested and taken into custody.

The bag that had been left behind was further searched and various burglary tools and property were found in it which, according to the Police, was suspected to be stolen.

The two persons were re-arrested for illegal possession of property and taken into custody.
