A man from Frenaros was driving last night under the influence of alcohol and drugs and without a safety certificate.

According to the Police, around 11.30 last night, on Tasos Papadopoulos Avenue in Larnaca, members of the Traffic Police, as part of a campaign, stopped a car driven by a man at a speed of 79 km per hour instead of the 50, which is the limit allowed by law.

The inspection revealed that the driver of the vehicle was a man from Frenaros who was driving the car without being covered by a safety certificate against a third party.

During the test because the man smelled a preliminary breathalyzer test with an indication of 32 mg instead of 9 which is the limit. A final breathalyzer test followed where the young man gave two satisfactory samples with indications of 31 and 30 mg instead of 9.

The members of the Police were suspected and the man was asked to give a saliva sample for a preliminary indication of a drug test which was positive.

The man was then taken to the Larnaca Traffic Police where a final saliva sample was taken for a final examination.

The driver and co-driver of the vehicle that allowed the man to drive the car without a safety certificate were charged in writing and released to be summoned later in court.

The case is being investigated by the Larnaca Traffic Police.
