The fourth generation of the Audi A4 may not make sense in terms of design, but in terms of technology, the significant reduction in weight and consumption, as well as its future hybrid version do not leave anyone indifferent.The Audi A4, in its third generation, was introduced in 2008 while at the end of 2011 it underwent an extensive and substantial facelift. With which, in fact, it could stay longer in the market instead of 2014 when its fourth generation will be presented.

With a familiar design
As usual from Audi, the next generation of the A4 will not differ significantly from the existing one, being an evolutionary continuation of it and following the most modern design identity of the brand.
Thus, the essential interventions will be focused on the front full-led luminaires which will extend enough towards the center, the grille, the rear lights and the rear pillar, which will have a greater inclination compared to the existing one, even slightly referring to coupe.
Inside now, although there are no pictures, according to information the scene will be typical Audi and will be reminiscent of that of the latest generation of A3.
In fact, several technological goodies will be available, such as an advanced multimedia system with touchpad - corresponding to the A8 and A6, and Head Up Display. Of course, the quality of the materials and the fit are expected to be radically upgraded.
Lighter and more economical
In the technical part now, the most important information concerns the reduction of the total weight of the body, the consumption and the range of engines.
More specifically, the A4 will step on an advanced MQB platform (Golf, A3, Leon, next generation Octavia), will have a corresponding length-width but will be lower than the existing one (it should be noted that it is one of the largest models in the category of) and will weigh up to 100 kg less with all that this implies for its road behavior and consumption.
Regarding the latter, in fact, the most important news is the fact that it will now be equipped with small displacement engines, specifically from the 1,4 lt. the most certain, and less likely than the 1,2 lt. More specifically, it is the 1.2 TSI of 122 and 140 hp with the valve deactivation system.
And hybrid
In 2015, the Audi A4 will also get a hybrid version, which will wear the 2 liter TFSI of 211 hp which will be combined with a 95 hp electric motor.
It will send the drive exclusively to the rear wheels and will be able to drive purely electrically the middle model for a distance of 50 kilometers in total.
According to information, in fact, in the future it can be combined with a diesel engine for more economy.
