The Macedonian government has made good on its promises, saying it would change the name of the airport and the highway as part of negotiations on the country's name.

Earlier in February, it announced that it would change the name of the airport from "Alexander the Great" to "Skopje International Airport".

On Wednesday, workers removed the sign of the Alexandrou highway in Macedonia, which leads to the Greek border and was renamed the "Friendship Highway".

In the next period it is expected to complete the removal of all the signs of the highway and the placement of new ones, in which he will bear the new name "Friendship".

The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Greece are seeking a solution to a dispute over Macedonia's name. Greece claims that the name of FYROM implies territorial claims in its own northern province, called Macedonia.

The country has been trying for years to become a member of NATO and the European Union, however, due to the problem that Greece has for the country's name, it is delayed.
