U.S. authorities are stepping up their search to locate a 13-year-old girl who is believed to be in immediate danger after her parents were killed inside the Wisconsin family home.

Jamie Kloss has been missing since Monday. That day, police received a phone call that led her to the family home in the northern United States. The girl's parents, 56-year-old James Klos, and his wife, Denise, 46, were killed by gunshot wounds, but the girl was nowhere to be found.

About a hundred volunteers took part in the search in Wisconsin, while the police received about 800 phone calls with information about Jamie, but to no avail, as noted by the sheriff of Baron County.

The federal police (FBI) has decided to expand the investigation across the country, believing that the girl is in danger. "An entire state is shaken by the disappearance of Jamie and the death of her parents," said Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Simmel.

The call to the police was made around 1 a.m. Monday from a mobile phone, through the family home. Police are currently unaware of what exactly happened and what motivated the perpetrators. The weapon of the crime has not been identified. According to CBS News, the perpetrators shot at the front door of the house to open it and enter.
