Half an hour after midnight, a police patrol found an injured man walking around the Akama area.
The 40-year-old told police that he had previously been with his partner in a vehicle parked on the edge of a cliff, when at some point he moved forward and ended up at sea.
The man said that he managed to get out of the vehicle and with the help of his partner he left it on rocks and left to seek help.
The Fire Department was called to the scene and rescued the woman.
Both were taken by ambulance to hospital.
The 40-year-old suffered a pelvic fracture while the woman is being treated in a serious condition in the intensive care unit with fractures and difficulty breathing.
