This means that the 75 police officers and 25 firefighters hired since yesterday are citizens again and the Police will have to repeat the process from the beginning, which will deprive it of 100 members, at a time when strengthening its staff is a priority. . The responsibility for this development lies with the Police themselves, who decided to acrobatic on the provisions of the regulations, as a result of which they soaked them! The Administrative Court, annulling the recruitments, fully adopted the positions expressed by the complainants' lawyer G. Karapatakis.

"P" from July 6, 2020 with his report had highlighted the problems in the procedure that had been followed, expressing the opinion that the recruitments would be canceled due to obvious illegality, which had been identified by the lawyer G. Karapatakis. One of the elements that made up the illegal recruitment process for new police officers and firefighters was the participation of 21 candidates in the psychometric examinations, without having previously passed the sports tests, as provided by the terms of the 256 positions. The funny thing is that the 21 who irregularly took part in the psychometric examinations, were then called for an examination in sports tests and only 16 appeared. In the sports tests, 8 of them were "cut" and only 9 were left. procedure, only 9 and not 21 would reach the stage of psychometric examinations and the average of the score that affected all the candidates would be formed differently. From this fact alone, the process was "infected", as a result of which the score was altered and the average success was affected. The examination procedure, as explicitly recorded in the official announcement of the 256 positions, provided for a specific order. In order to be called for the psychometric exams, one must have passed the sports tests. However, for the 21, someone decided to put the carriage in front of the horse and invited them to take part in the psychometric tests, without having previously passed the athletic tests.

The court decision states that “the provisions of Regulation 5 (2) (b) stipulate the order of the candidates' examinations to be recruited, in such a way that success in the first constitutes a prerequisite for participation in the next, since these examinations are mentioned sequentially. , a sequence repeated in the provisions of Regulation 4 (1) '. According to the court, "candidates who had not undergone sports tests, whose score was even taken into account in determining the average success rate," erroneously took part in the psychometric examination process ".

Others instead of others

In addition to the 21, there were another 14 people, who took part in both the recruitment process of special police officers and the recruitment process of regular police officers and firefighters and were considered successful in the second process, without attending the psychometric examinations. The competent Police Committee ruled by a majority that those who had passed the psychometric tests for the positions of special police officers did not need to undergo a new examination for the positions of regular police officers and so they were not called. The court in its decision states that this was completely excommunicated "in violation of the principles of equal treatment, but also of the law and equal measure of judgment of the candidates". It also becomes clear that "the Recruitment Council of the Police incompetently decided to give credit to the specific candidates for success in the psychometric examinations". That is, they were two different processes and they arbitrarily made them one!

The private company is invalid

To the general mess that had been created, was added the decision for conducting psychometric tests by a private company in violation of regulation 4 (1) of the Police (General) Regulations (KDP 51/89). The Greek company Evalion, which prepared the psychometric tests, corrected them and it determined, afterwards, the basis for success. According to the court decision, "the psychometric tests were performed by an incompetent body", since they had to be done by the Commission appointed by the Chief of Police. The Commission merely validated the results of the private company.

Damn it from the beginning

The blow to the Police is very important, as a process that started with the announcement of the positions in March 2019 was blown up. Therefore, we are going back about 2,5 years. The issue of handling the 100 people who have been working in the Police since August 2020 and today staff various services remains unknown. In order to comply with the court decision, these people will have to return to their homes.

The amateurism with which the regulations were "implemented" was also discussed in Parliament, but it was impossible to overturn the process when it was already completed.
