A 22-year-old suspect has been referred to a direct trial before the Permanent Criminal Court, which is meeting in Paphos on July 24, for the case of the rape of a young permanent resident of Paphos in the early hours of June 13.

The court also ordered that the 24-year-old remain in custody until July 22, 21, which he has set as the start date of the trial before the Criminal Court.

Police conducted intensive investigations examining the closed circuits that are installed in shops in the area. Also according to the Police, there is an eyewitness in the case, who helped the complainant and the Police.

According to the Police, the 24-year-old reported being raped by an unknown man. Specifically, the young woman complained to the Police that shortly before 4 on the dawn of Sunday, June 13, while walking in Agios Antonios, heading to her apartment, she was approached by an unknown man, who forcibly dragged her to the precinct of the chapel of the same name where he had intercourse with her against her will.

The girl went to the Police a little later, on the morning of June 13, and reported the case, giving a description of the perpetrator.

It is noted that the 24-year-old was examined by the medical examiner Angeliki Papetta.
