CYPRUS: A man disguised himself as a woman and attempted to travel with a fake ID

Four people are in custody for impersonation

Authorities in Paphos handcuffed four people to facilitate investigations in connection with a case of conspiracy to commit fraud and impersonation.

According to a statement from the Office of the Communication Branch of the Police Headquarters, on Saturday around 10:10 in the morning, during the passport control, four persons presented themselves at the Paphos airport with the intention of their departure. As it was established for the two, their identities were genuine and they were the same faces, while for the other two faces it was established that the identities they presented were genuine but the faces were different from those depicted on the identities.

One person reportedly admitted that he does not own the ID card and that he is a man who disguised himself as a woman so that he could travel on an ID card that he owned. He was subsequently arrested for the self-inflicted crime of impersonation. It is added that the other person stated that the ID card was genuine but not hers and gave her real details.

Arrest warrants were issued for all four individuals, they were arrested and taken into custody. The case is being examined by the Paphos TAE.
