Fuel tanker drivers refueling from the facilities of Hellenic Petroleum Cyprus in the area of ​​Vassilikos carried out a spontaneous two-hour warning work stop today.

In a statement, the trade unions SEGDAMELIN- PEO OMEPEGE - SEK state that "on February 20, 2024, all working fuel drivers refueling from the facilities of Hellenic Petroleum Cyprus in the area of ​​Vasilikos went on a spontaneous two-hour work stoppage".

It is noted that "employees of CYPOIL TRADING LTD, GO NOW, MICHAELAS, STAROIL, MELETHS went on strike due to not being allowed to go down to the terminal for their basic needs as well as to have a decent break between routes to eat and continue their work".

It is also noted that "they are obliged to park their tankers at the turn outside the terminal in fear that either a truck or another tanker or a private vehicle will hit theirs every day".

It is emphasized that "all the workers are calling on the Department of Labor Inspection and the Minister of Labor himself to intervene to solve these very important problems of the workers related to the safety and health sector".
