In his statements to KYPE, the Press Spokesman of the Police, Christos Andreou, expressed the full readiness of the Police to respond to the new decree, noting that every time the decrees are amended, the duties and hours of the members of the Police are also changed.
The new decree, on the basis of which citizens are required to hold a safepass, came into force at dawn.
Evidence, as announced and provided by the Decree, must be provided in restaurants (cafes, cafes, bars, snack bars, coke), places of worship, outdoor and indoor theaters, cinemas and halls of arts or spectacles, commercial venues and social events such as weddings, christenings and funerals, gyms, dance schools and other sports schools, indoor gymnasiums, nursing homes, nursing homes and other indoor facilities, hotels and tourist attractions. in theaters / amphitheaters, restaurants, homes, conferences, trade fairs and casinos.
In the meantime, the presentation of evidence is not mandatory for going to hairdressers, beauty salons, banks, departments / public service services of the private, public and wider public sector, gambling and betting companies, public markets, supermarkets, bakeries, bakeries , fruit shops, mini-markets, kiosks, pharmacies, beaches, outdoor excursions, dams and zoos.
According to Mr. Andreou, although some things were removed from the decree, such as the sms checks, nevertheless the duties of the members of the Police remain increased.
"If it does not have sms controls, there will be more people on the roads, so there will be traffic and traffic surveillance tasks. "Our workload is not decreasing," he said.
Regarding the safepass checks, Mr. Andreou said that the Police will carry out checks on the premises, as provided by the decrees, to note that the Police has the authority to inspect the specific areas mentioned in the decree.
Regarding the restaurants (restaurants, taverns, cafes, etc.), Mr. Andreou said that the Ministry of Tourism is in charge in cooperation with the Police.
You do not need a warrant
Asked if the members of the Police or the Officers who will carry out inspections will need a warrant to enter a premises, the Police Spokesperson answered in the negative, explaining that in these areas the decree provides for inspections by the competent officials and the police and no warrant is required.
"In order to enter a place, you need a search warrant, in order to investigate a criminal case. This has nothing to do with investigation. "In these areas, the decree provides for control by the competent officials and the police, and no warrant is needed," he said.
He also explained that the only thing a citizen can demand from an official - not just a police officer - because there will be some who will not be in uniform, is to be shown by the person who will check his police ID or the identity that holds as an officer, conducting such audits.
Regarding the number of police officers who will be thrown into the battle of controls, Mr. Andreou said that "every day and every hour is different", noting that with the modification of the decrees, the schedules are also modified.
"The number of members is determined according to the morning and according to the needs. "For most of the members of the Police, in whatever Department they work in, their primary goal and purpose will be the supervision of the measures during this period", he noted
Fines
Regarding the fine, he said that if it is an out-of-court settlement, the fine will be 300, but noted that "if the violations are blatant or repeated, the Police will proceed to a criminal case, which will be registered before the court."
He expressed the belief that the people will be disciplined once again in the measures.
He added that "someone who observes the measures, when he goes to such places, where he needs the safe pass and he has it and it is legal, he has nothing to fear".
"The purpose of legislation and decrees," he said, "like all legislation is their deterrent role. So only with the issuance of these decrees do we hope that we will not face any issue ".
